How do you divide a cake into 8 equal pieces with only 3 cuts ?

cut across the length, the width and the height, you will have eight pieces

if the cake is circular, where is the length and width ?

cut across the diameter, and across the diameter again, then across the height??? i watched the commercial for the milk powder lor!

but what if the cake is not symmetrical than the method of cutting the length or diameter and width would not have worked either...(there are cakes that have weird shapes too)

there is a prob with the question cos the shape of the cake is not precised.
